I've been asked why I'm active in the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce and whether I've gotten value from my membership and participation because I'm in Commercial Real Estate, and in a fairly tight "niche". The answer is a resounding "yes". Here's one story: When I first joined, I met a Realtor and fellow member who owned a small boutique hotel in Pompano. She held a Chamber Event there and invited me to see the property. When she was ready to sell, she hired me and I made a $4.5m sale! Subsequently the buyer that I sold it to hired me to resell it and we closed on a sale last week. One of the reasons he hired me was because, after the sale, I'd invited him to a few Chamber events, including one of our Quarterly Tourism Updates and a Membership Breakfast, and he said that because he was new to the area he appreciated all the information and introductions to local business owners.
